Sony Announces Launch of all new Ultra Wide Prime Lens

Working on enhancing photography experience for everyone, Sony has announced the launch of a new fast ultra wide prime lens. Adding to the list of innovative imaging possibilities, the new, fast f/1.8, ultra-wide Sony G-series prime lens is here to expand the full-frame E-mount line-up and brings a multi-faceted new tool to Sony photographers and filmmakers.

The all new G Lens™ series FE 20mm F1.8 G (SEL20F18G) is the perfect partner and offers to enhance the creative needs including portraits, astrophotography, landscape and street photography, as well as capturing impressive video.

FE 20MM F1.8 G lens

Ensuring to offer an exceptional resolution and bokeh, the FE 20mm F1.8 G is a compact, lightweight, ultra-wide prime lens – the widest full-frame prime lens in Sony’s E-mount line-up giving users a new resource for stretching the boundaries of their artistic imaginations. The FE 20mm offers high resolution throughout the image area. Fitted with impressive lens design features, it has two advanced aspherical (AA) elements and three extra-low dispersion (ED) glass elements to suppress chromatic aberration. Apart from that it delivers high corner-to-corner image quality with minimal distortion, even at the maximum F1.8 apertures.

The all new FE 20mm/ F1.8 G delivers excellent close-up performance, with a minimum focus distance of 7.5mm. Moreover, the prime lens promises to deliver beautiful bokeh. Keeping in mind that these ultra wide lens are to be extensively used by photographers and videographers for use outside, the all new FE 20mm lens is designed to be dust and moisture resistant. The lens comes with a fluorine front element coating which makes the FE 20mm F1.8 G highly reliable and easy to operate. It also features a customizable focus-hold button and aperture ring with a click on/off switch and is compatible with a variety of 67mm filters for extra creative control.
