One of the most famous landmarks of Bengaluru, the Vidhana Soudha houses the State Legislature and the Secretariat of Karnataka. The magnificent white building is spread over 60 acres of land and boasts of Mysore Neo-Dravidian architecture and has incorporated various elements of Indo-Saracenic and Dravidian Styles. It was built under the then Chief Minister of Karnataka, Mr. Kengal Hanumanthaiah during the years 1952-56. The three hundred rooms of Vidhana Soudha accommodate approximately twenty-two departments of the state government. The building rises to a height of almost 46 m, making it one of the most imposing structures in the city of Bengaluru. In the front is the statue of the first Prime Minister of Independent India, Jawaharlal Nehru.
