Avtar Singh Dhanjal talks about his father being the inspiration behind his career in wedding photography, and how the Sony Alpha 7R III made it all possible
Weddings have always been a part of my family, on account of my father who was a wedding photographer himself. I would accompany him during his assignments, and that’s how I got my first taste for weddings. I was taken in by the colours and lights, and the moments that my father photographed, amidst the chaos of joy and laughter. Over time, this finally paid off when I decided to follow in the steps of my father and become a wedding photographer myself.
In the time that I’ve been associated with Sony and used their cameras and lenses, I’ve come to realise the remarkable difference that an adept photographic system makes while photographing something as rigorous and transient as weddings. Features that specifically stand out in the Sony Alpha 7R III is its impeccable Eye AF feature; its speedy AF, on the whole, and how well it performs in low light; its unbeatable battery; and its 5-axis image stabilisation, as I do videography as well. With these features in hand, I am at ease to concentrate on my creativity, and ensuring that I get the best pictures of the bride and groom’s special day.
“The qualities that make Sony’s G Master lenses exceptional is the depth of field and sharpness that it renders to photographs. The Sony FE 135mm f/1.8 GM lens is the one that I gravitate the most towards, for the quality of bokeh that I receive from using it.”
