Karthik Srinivasan talks about his foray into photography and why the Sony Alpha 7R III is an indispensable tool in his photographic gear.
Having grown up in Cumbum, a border town in Tamil Nadu, I was surrounded by lush landscapes that helped nurture my eventual interest in photography. Although I started out my career as a model, I worked on several projects where I was a shoot producer, and closely worked with people associated with it. These diverse experiences provided the required discipline to be individualistic in whatever I set out to photograph, be it advertising, fashion or photographing celebrities. In the 20 years that I’ve been in the industry, I have used several film and digital cameras. However, for the last seven years, I have been exclusively shooting with Sony gear. I am fond of the compactness and sturdiness of its cameras— the Sony Alpha 7R III being one of them. Being in advertising, my projects involve shooting for large canvases and billboards, and Sony’s cameras deliver in terms of superlative image quality and details rendered in the images, something you’d expect from medium format cameras. I especially like the dynamic range, the Fast Hybrid AF, and long battery life of the Sony Alpha 7R III. I also appreciate Sony’s R&D service— its delivery of state of the art technology and futuristic updates in all their line-up of gear.
“Sony’s G Master lenses provide me with the best colour rendition. Besides, its wider apertures enable me to work in low light and also achieve shallow focus. It is also a plus that the G Master lineup contains all the range of focal lengths required by any professional photographer.”
