Channal Sean

Cambodian Artist/Photographer

In 1997, SEAN Channal was born in Mukh Kampul District, Kandal Province, Cambodia.

He studied at Norton University, Phnom Penh, where he received a bachelor's degree of Creative in Multimedia. In 2019 he studied short course Conceptual Photography and Natural Lighting of Studio Images at the Institute Français du Cambodge in Phnom Penh. In 2022 he studied short course of Studio Images in the topic “Black and White Square Portrait Photography” project at the Institute Français du Cambodge in Phnom Penh.

- 2018 - 2019: exhibition of student’s works, documentary photo project, and story photo at Norton University, twice in a row.
- 2019 - exhibition of CamConscious Tourism, Travel Green, Travel Local at Plantation Urban Resort and Spa in Phnom Penh.
- 2019 - exhibition of “Life and Light” at Institute Français du Cambodge in Phnom Penh.
- 2021 - virtual exhibition at the Sony World Photography Awards.
- 2021 - virtual exhibition advance digital photography of Creative in Multimedia at Norton University.
- 2021 - exhibition of PIDA (People’s Initiative for Development Alternative) documentary project “The Circle of Life” under topic “Watercourse of Life, MEKONG” at Sangsangmadang Hongdae gallery at Seoul, South Korea.
- 2022 - exhibition at the Sony World Photography Awards at Somerset House gallery at London.
- 2022 - exhibition of student’s Studio Image at Institute Français du Cambodge and the wall of Ambassade de France au Cambodge in Phnom Penh.

- 2019 - Top 20 Sony Alpha Festival in Cambodia.
- 2019 - Photography winner at Tok Photo Contest.
- 2019 - 1st place Travel Green, Travel Local photography winner of CamConscious Tourism.
- 2020 - Top 35 great photographer at International 5th 35Awards photo contest in category DailyLife and was selected for the 2019 catalog book.
- 2020 - Top 10 photo contest at Photo Phnom Penh Festival 11th Edition (PPP).
- 2021 - Top 1 great photographer at 35Awards in category Emotion Portrait photo contest.
- 2021 - 1st place Cambodia National Award at the Sony World Photography Awards and published in the 2021 edition of the Sony world Photography Awards book.
- 2021 - Top 100 great photographer at International 6th 35Awards photo contest in category Black and White.
- 2021 - Has been selected photos for published of 1st edition's Ministry of Environment catalog book.
- 2022 - Top 4 photo contest at Photo Phnom Penh Festival 12th Edition (PPP).
- 2022 - Top 10 photo contest at FujiFilm X in the topic “Motion”.
- 2022 - 1st place Cambodia National Award at the Sony World Photography Awards and published in the 2022 edition of the Sony world Photography Awards book.
- 2022 - Top 2 great photographer at 35Awards in category Emotion Portrait photo contest.

Photography is his passion and he is a junior level in photography files. He prefers taking photos of: daily life, street, travel, landscape, sport, conceptual, commercial, portrait, fashion.

He is based in Phnom Penh City but likes to travel around Cambodia. His goal nowadays is to focus on, fashion, pre-wedding, photo journalist, commercial and special events.
