Large-scaled pit viper || Munnar, Kerala || July 2024 This venomous pit viper is native to the hills of Munnar. Endemic to the Western Ghats, it is typically found at elevations above 1200 meters. Resplendent Shrub Frog || Munnar, Kerala || July 2024 The elusive Resplendent Shrub Frog, found in the Western Ghats is a highly endemic species. This species is found only 2600 meters above sea level and adapted to very specific ecological conditions. Reaching about 2.5 cm in length, these frogs are noted for their striking reddish-orange coloration and the distinctive glandular swellings on their sides and backs. Nevertheless, with fewer than 300 mature individuals estimated to be left in the wild, conservation efforts are crucial for the survival of this critically endangered beauty.
