Interview with Vishal Sinha
In this interview, he shares his journey from working as a lightman to becoming one of India’s most prolific cinematographers. He shares how choosing the right film shapes his approach to visuals, why every location must be embraced rather than fought, and how the Sony VENICE empowers him to capture authenticity while enabling experimentation.
My last four features have been on the VENICE — Chup, Ghoomer, Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba, and Safar. The low-light capabilities on it are fantastic. At 2500 ISO, you can actually shoot under street lamps and still retain the city’s character. The extension system is fantastic, in small homes or cars, it lets me move freely without compromising safety or vision. What I value most is how VENICE captures exactly what I’ve lit, staying true to my choices on set.
