Using AI-based subject recognition technology, the feature automatically crops the frame to keep the subject in a prominent position when shooting movies. Even though the camera is mounted on a tripod the recorded footage looks like the subject was being followed by an experienced camera operator.

Sony’s cutting-edge technologies answer the demands of vloggers for uncompromising image expression. The CMOS Exmor R™ full-frame sensor features AF Transition Speed with 7-speed settings, excellent for creating rack focus effects, and AF Subject Shift Sensitivity, which has 5 sensitivity settings that define how “sticky” AF will be.

Dynamic active Mode stabilisation*1
In a new Dynamic active Mode, sophisticated electronic stabilisation may now work in conjunction with the camera's 5-axis optical in-body image stabilisation technology. The Dynamic Active Mode is approximately 30% more effective than the Active Mode provided by previous versions. Shooting adaptable, stable vlog footage while moving around for bold, dynamic expression is thus now easier than ever.
Multiple Face Recognition*2
With this feature, the camera will automatically adjust bokeh and focus on multiple recognised faces in group shots. No manual aperture adjustment is required, so you can go with the flow of the moment to capture natural expressions.
Upgrade from 4K 60p to 4K 120p
The ZV-E1 can capture 4K video in-camera at up to 120 frames per second. Extraordinary smooth 5x (max.) slow-motion imagery in QFHD resolution with autofocus opens new expressive possibilities. Up to 10x slow motion with Full HD quality at 240 fps is possible to get new perspectives on dynamic sports and other sorts of action.
Picture Profile with imported LUT files
Custom user LUT files (.cube format) can be imported into the camera and assigned to Picture Profiles. This makes it easy to use LUTs to create specific looks when shooting in modes other than preset looks. The look is recorded in-camera, so colour correction in post processing can be minimised or eliminated altogether.
Intelligent 3-Capsule Microphone
The ZV-E1 includes a high-performance 3-capsule microphone with variable directivity designed to clearly record the voice of your main subject, and you can set the microphone's directivity to Front, Rear, All Directions, or Auto depending on your shot.
Product Showcase Setting*3 for product review videos
The Product Showcase Setting makes it easy to shoot product review videos. The camera will smoothly switch focus from your face to a product held in front of the lens and then back to your face when the product is moved away.
